Beowulf
Running time 1 hour and 53 minutes

I am ripper. Tearer. Slasher. Teeth in the darkness. I am Beowulf! I saw Beowulf last night with my friend Becca, so here’s a simple review of the movie. This review may contain spoilers.
For those who do not know the basic plot is about Beowulf, who must defeat a monster by the name of Grendel who is terrorizing a town. After that he must also rid the area of Grendel’s mother who seeks out revenge. Of course there’s a bit more to the story, but that’s the basic gist of it. The movie is based off a story that tormented students in their English class, which honestly I don’t remember every detail of the original story.
Visually since the movie is done in CGI it’s amazing, breath taking back grounds that will leave the viewer in awe. Some sorts look a little awkward at times, especially when it comes to some of the characters but beyond that visually the film is amazing. Personally I think it would have been much better with real people, but oh well. Angelina Jolie herself made a comment about her CGI-character self basically stating even she doesn’t look that good (her character is naked with some massive boobs that look very odd).
Storyline wise the movie starts out kinda eh, Grendel’s screaming in the beginning of the film had myself and other audience members laughing. You’d have to hear it for yourself to understand. Anyways, the story picks up a lot more towards the end of the film and becomes a lot more interesting.
Overrall Beowulf is a nice PG-13 film but contains a lot of gore, but beyond that it’s a good film. There’s even a 3D version where you wear 3D glasses and watch the film … after seeing the regular version I can not imagine how freaky it would be to see the 3D version. I give the movie 3 1/2 stars out of 5, it wasn’t bad but could have been a lot better.
