I started my job at Target on the 22nd of October, and so far so good! I trained for over a week and last night was officially my first day on my own (although Friday and Saturday people called out so I was pretty much on my own anyways). Job isn’t hard at all, I basically get assigned a section in the store (I am hardlines, so that’s like toys, electronics, etc. all hard flooring areas) and I put stuff back on the shelves and just generally make sure the area looks nice. And of course I also help customers find things and what not, which is a pain so far since I am not sure where everything is.
Everyone I work with is very nice and helpful, so woot. My only complaint is having to work so many days in a row, since I am full time student. This schedule I am working Friday-Monday (I am glad today is Monday, I am so tired!) and next week I work Friday-Tuesday! Thankfully some days I don’t go in until 4, which is nice but every night I close (Target closes at 10 on everyday but Sunday which is at 9), but we still have clean the store even after so I may not leave until 10:30 or 11 or so. I am also hoping to get some random weekend off soon so I can go home and visit my family, it’s been months and I miss my dog lol. Bright side of it all? I finally have a job and of course since it’s the holidays I can now buy nice presents! My sister and I talked about getting our mother a nice digital camera (she still uses film), and my sister is so awesome she told me she’ll pay for the whole thing since she knows I am a college student. But I am going to show our mother how to use it, buy her a case for it, and a memory card + if we get it at Target I get to use my discount!
Class is starting in about 5 minutes so I suppose I should pay attention eh? I am so ready for Thanksgiving break though, at least we get Monday off!. How was everyone’s Halloween? I didn’t do anything, but my friend and I ordered a pizza so that was fun haha.

That’s awesome that you have a job. Being able to buy what you want with your own money is rewarding.
I didn’t do anything for Halloween either.
btw: I registered for despair.nu but I still didn’t get approved. I have a link to despair.nu in About >> networks >> joined section of my web site. Maybe you or someone else couldn’t find the link.

It must be great to have a job which give you money to christmas presents. The gift for your mother sounds really great. If she still uses film she definitly needs a new and flashy digital camera!
By the way, I love the colour of your hallway! The colour is almost the same as my hallway.

I used to work at a Target and I didn’t like it much. Well, I didn’t care to much for the people and they knew that. I’m not trying to say that Target is bad place because I like shopping there, but if there weren’t so many “clicks” there maybe I would still be there. But hopefully it will work out better for you.
Good Luck!

Congrats on obtaining your new job!! At least you are getting hours right??
It’s always nice to be able to work with nice people… but sometimes, it’s always a first layer before you hit the smelly part.
Best of luck in that!

Sounds like you have the same job as me almost. I’m a Day stocker at FRY’s (grocery store) and that’s basically all we do all day is stock certain areas of the store and make sure it always looks nice. The only thing that differs I’m sure from your job is we have to use pallet jacks and electric jacks in the back to lift water pallets and unload trucks which is slightly dangerous and I haven’t had to do yet. I hate that my schedule is like that sometimes too. I once when 8 days in a row without a day off, it kind of sucks. But that’s how it is with part time.

Woo-hoo, Target discount! I hope you don’t burn out with work and school, it sounds like a sweet gig.
Halloween was boss, stayed home with my buddy Faith. We had sushi bentos and handed out piles of candy!

Being a full time student and working at the same time seems so tedious, but of course those perks are so worth it ;) Discounts!

I am happy your new job is working out great for you – I am impressed that you can handle working that much aside with a full time study course but it’s you who are getting paid for it all so it’s a good investment getting some work experience.

I applied at TARGET but I haven’t heard back from them yet. But I’d have to work nights since someone needs to be home with the baby during the day.
BTW: I love what you did with this theme. xD

New jobs are always so exciting, do you get discounts and benefits?

Wow, you must work in a relatively neat Target. The one I used to work at, after closing we’d be there to between 2&6 AM! I got so much OT it was ridiculous.
I hope you enjoy it there. I know only getting a 10% discount sucks!

Your job doesn’t sound too bad. I would’ve applied at the Target by my school if I had a way there besides the bus every couple hours :| The bus schedules suck! But whatever.
And you really made me want pizza :| but it’s too late to get any. Booooo
