We’re All Mad Here 05.30.2010

Welcome to Wonderland, where the tea is tasty and everyone is mad :) I went home at the beginning of May for about a week and half and while there I randomly had the idea to make an Alice inspired layout. After many days of messing in photoshop with the illustrations and many weeks coding I am finished! I may still tweak some of the colors here and there (I can’t seem to get the annoying blue border around the thumbnails in the sidebar to go away), but other than I am very pleased with it :) I loved my last layout but it’s Summer time and I want something bright and happy. And I love Alice in Wonderland so it fits (I still need to see the new one by Tim Burton!).

Also notice the spiffy font at the top, an Alice font. I love plugins. Sadly, I have another idea for another layout too … but at the rate it takes me to make and code them it won’t be up for awhile ;) Let me know what you think about the layout and any errors you may see. Also let me know if you saw the new Alice in Wonderland movie, it comes out on DVD Tuesday so I may pick up a copy of it :)

After coming across some amazing applications called Bowtie and GeekTool I decided last night (at 12am of course haha) to make a new wallpaper to match these lovely desktop applications. I illustrated everything myself in photoshop, worked on it a few hours after I got the idea and just finished now. Took several upon several hours to illustrate everything but I am so happy with how it turned out! I tend to change my desktop a lot, but that won’t happen anytime soon. Now to explain what everything is.

1. The ipod ihome numbers for the time is part of geektool, it’s an actual clock.
2. The ipod touch album graphic is from bowtie, it displays the current track/artist I am listening to.
3. To do list, part of geektool. I just have to edit a txt file to update the list.
4. Geektool again, an actual calendar that will update each month/day.
5. The icon on the wallpaper on the laptop is my actual hard drive icon on my mac.

Once classes start again in the fall, I’ll either make little push pin icons that are clickable that will house the folder for my projects/class or create more books that will be the class folder. Or maybe a post it note for each class, haven’t decided yet. I will also be adding more polaroids and random notes. The Buffy image is based off the Buffy episode Hush where Giles draws Buffy patrolling, one of my fav episodes so I had to recreate the drawing.
