Edit @ 2:08PM: I’ve upgraded Wordpress to the latest version, yay. Most of the content is uploaded, but still have some visitor things to upload (such as screencaps) so bare with me. Also uploaded all hostees files.
I feel like I haven’t blogged in forever, which I guess it has been almost a month now. Granted, it wasn’t by choice! I’ve been having problems with Comcast “blocking out” all of my sites (since their on the same server now), for some reason when I’d upload files through an ftp program I’d be unable to access the websites. I’d get a simple “server can not be found” error. Usually this lasted a week and I could view everything again, but oh no not this time! I tried moving Blissful to my reseller account and it crapped out on me, so not only couldn’t I access Blissful I couldn’t access Despair.nu either and another domain I own. This lasted weeks, of course. I told someone in the office of the apartment complex that I live in at about the problems I was having and they said they emailed Comcast but nothing happened. I have received some tips from members at Snark, so hopefully I can test those theories out.
The only reason I can access the sites now is because I am at home (yay) came home for Mother’s Day, two friend’s birthdays, my mother’s birthday, AND my sister’s birthday. And it will also be very nice not to work. But of course uploading all of my files for Blissful didn’t go so well, because lets face it … easy is so boring! Complications ftw. Here’s the gist of what happened.
- Uploaded all files and received “Database connection error”, googled for a while and even checked Wordpress.org turns out I am an idiot and forgot to create the username for the databases I transfered over.
- The install files showed up, basically wanted me to install wordpress again … even though I had it. Had to reupload the database and finally fixed that.
- Finally everything seemed to be working, but oh wait when you click on a post or a page a 404 error appears. Turns out it had to do with the permalinks. So I changed those back to the default ones and everything worked, but I didn’t want it to be that way. In the end I had to edit the .htaccess file and now everything works.
Took me over an hour to do all of this, haha. Next up ….. uploading all of my hostees’ files and creating their usernames for their databases, oh what fun. Speaking of which I am cleaning out hostees at some point over the summer, so if you’re site died way before the move and you do not email me back you’ll be deleted. But on the bright side I can host domains.
In other news, I found out weeks ago my sister is having A BOY. Yay. Her and her husband have decided on the name Aidan Scott, so cute. I can’t wait until September, I’ll be an aunt!
