RIP Neo

For the last few days Neo, my dog, has not been acting himself. On Friday April 27th my mother took him to the vet (note, he lived with my mom while I moved away for college) and the vet told her there was nothing they could do. Neo had an enlarged heart, liver, lung, and his trachea was collapsing. Neo was an amazing 11 year old mutt (part poodle terrier and who knows what else) and he will be greatly missed :) I know it was hard for my mom to tell me this over the phone earlier that day, and hell it was hard for me to hear. But I know he is no longer in pain. I begged my mom over the phone to let me see him one more time, all I wanted to say was goodbye. But the vet said they shouldn’t wait. Now that I think about it, it was probably best I didn’t see him that way and instead that I remember him as the hyperactive dog that he was :)

Neo Angelus, you were an awesome dog. Smarter than most humans and always made me laugh. I will greatly miss you. I drove home after the news and tomorrow my mother, boyfriend (who rode with me since I couldn’t drive, was too upset) will be doing a bit of shopping before I head back to Tallahassee. I plan on getting some painting supplies and painting a portait of Neo. Now it’s time for some cute pictures of Neo :P

When I first got Neo! He was my Christmas gift in 2000 :)

One of my favorite pictures of him! Taken around Christmas 2011.

Random pictures I took with him outside haha.

RIP Neo Angelus. November 1, 2000 – April 27, 2012 I love and miss you <3!

Neo And His (not) So Amazing Balancing Skills

I had a lovely trip to TN and am back in Florida. Visiting until Tuesday when I am going back to Tallahassee, boo. And working Wednesday morning. Epic boo. Nephew is here for the weekend and he’s such a joy, when he’s not chasing my dog and throwing cheerios everywhere :P But I wanted to share Neo, my dog’s, amazing epic mad skillz. Cos he has them, oh does he ever.

After seeing Rose’s blog about her dogs balancing things on their heads (which she originally got from Heather Armstrong), I wanted to see how my dog would fair up. It was pretty much fail. Neo will do anything for a treat, but he also gets super excited when you get one and starts prancing around like a horse (not even kidding). So instead I just made him “sit” and “stay” and balanced this pink hat toy a neighbor got him on his head, kinda. Here are the ‘best’ shots.

Neo Hat 4

He looks offended by the pink hat :P ‘Cos he’s a boy and all.

Neo Hat 3

Notice the cheerios on the floor? :P

Neo Hat 1

Mid bark.

Neo Hat 2

This counts right?

Okay so I guess he did well :P I think he prefers playing dead and jumping through a hula-hoop though.

Home Again!

I drove home today and I am so happy to off for 2 weeks from work and Tallahassee in general :D Tomorrow is shopping day when my mom gets off work, hoping to convince my mom to let me get a portable dvd player for the trip to TN on Thursday. I have one somewhere in my apartment but I couldn’t find it and it’s so old the battery life isn’t up to par anymore (plus it doesn’t have a cigarette lighter adapter to charge with!). Not going to get anything expensive, just something cheapish to last me the trip :P (I grabbed several movies to watch!). If I don’t get that I’ve been wanting Rhythm Heaven for the ds :) Someone at work has it and he loves it and ever since it came out I always wanted to get it.

I’m going to try to pack many goodies to entertain myself with: laptop (but the battery life sucks so I can’t do much with it), ipod, dvd player (hopefully!), sketchbook, and nintendo ds. And I’ll also have the first True Blood book to read too, I haven’t read in a car in ages so I hope it doesn’t make me sick (it used to not to!).

Coming home is always nice though, I got here before my mom got off so I saw my little adorable dog Neo first :) He looked so happy to see me (but he’s happy to see anyone really :P) but I noticed one of his eyes is cloudy. It looks like little ol’ Neo may have a cataract, when we get back we have to take him to the vet so they can test his urine (ew, I have to attempt to collect it … tmi … and I don’t see that working well :P) for certain diseases so they can check his eye out too. I can’t believe he’s 9, he doesn’t act like it but he’s starting to show more and more signs of his age :(
