Toy Story 3
Running Time: 103 minutes
Rating: ★★★★★

Please note this review may contain spoilers!

I saw Toy Story 3 tonight and it was AMAZING. I was a huge fan of the first film when I was little (to be honest I don’t remember too much about the second :P) so I was so excited to hear about a third! Toy Story 3 definitely has a lot to offer to the older fans who have grown up a little as well as to newer fans.

The basic premise of the movie is that Andy is going off to college and doesn’t need his toys anymore. Through some misfortune and a misunderstanding the toys end up at Sunnyside Day Care. Woody tries to escape to go back to Andy, only to find out that Sunnyside isn’t so sunny. So Woody makes his way back to bust them out. More things happen involving an Buzz speaking Spanish, the little aliens finding the ‘ultimate’ claw, and the toys always being burned :D

There’s a mean bear that’s huggable, purple, and smells like strawberries. A creepy baby, and many other new toys. I won’t spoil the ending at all, but of course there’s a happy ending :) I greatly enjoyed this movie! The action in the movie was amazing, the toys were all designed well, and it really reawakens your own imagination. Pixar also is famous for the short films at the beginning, and “Night & Day” is also a great addition to the film!

I definitely recommend for anyone and everyone to see this film! I can not wait for it to com out on dvd :) I give Toy Story 3 5/5 stars, for the action, adventure, dialogue, making me laugh way too much sometimes, and the overall plot. The movie was highly enjoyable. So go see it now, what are you waiting for ;)?

Irony of this post is yesterday I talked about the power going out at work, well when I got home from the movie the power was out! Was out for maybe 20 mins until it came back on but when I got settled on the computer with my laptop it went out again, oh joy. So I typed this up in the dark, yay.

Christina Aguilera – Bionic 06.8.2010

Artist: Christina Aguilera
Title: Bionic
Released: June 8, 2010
Songs: 18, Deluxe Edition with 24
Rating: ★★★★☆

Today is Tuesday, which means “TUNE IN TUESDAY” (as we call it at work) which also means Christina Aguilera’s new album is out :) It released on itunes at midnight but apparently leaked the week before. I’ve been a long running fan of Christina since her start as a genie in a bottle (not going to lie, I listened to the CD so much it has scratches all over it. Who am I kidding, I still listen to it! It’s on my itunes currently) and the way she reinvents herself with each album is admirable. “Bionic” is no different. The album contains usual ballads that you can’t help but sway to and belt out (Such as “Little Dreamer”, “You Lost Me”, and “Lift Me Up”) and sometimes tear up to. But it also has a nice mix of dancey songs that make you shake your bum and try to sing along.

Some of my favorite songs are “Bobblehead” (on the deluxe edition), “I Hate Boys”, and “Woohoo” as well as a few others (+ the slower songs mentioned). Christina Aguilera definitely has a more electronic-dancey sound to this album than her last. I’d say Bionic is will be on repeat on itunes as well as in my car for weeks to come :) Some of the songs haven’t quite grown on me yet, but as a whole I give the album a 4/5. Christina Aguilera’s singing talent is amazing as usual, the lyrics are catchy, and there’s a nice mix of dancey songs to rock out to as well as songs to make to cry and hold a lighter up and sway. There are a few songs that will probably not grow on me at all (such as “Sex For Breakfast”, it’s catchy but meh). I wouldn’t say this is her best album yet (my favorite is Back to Basics) but I feel it can stand proudly in the Hall of Fame of that is Aguilera :) And I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeves (or in her gears?) next! If you’ve gotten your hands on a copy I’d love to read/hear other people’s opinions.

What was the last album or song you purchased? Hate it of love it?

The Golden Compass 12.15.2007

The Golden CompassThe Golden Compass

Running Time: 113 minutes

Rating: ★★★★☆

“In a parallel universe, young Lyra Belacqua journeys to the far North to save her best friend and other kidnapped children from terrible experiments by a mysterious organization” from Imdb.

I saw The Golden Compass Monday night with my friend Becca, and it’s an amazing movie. The effects in the film are fabulous. Seeing this movie made me want to go out and buy the books now! Which I will def do now :) This review may contain some spoilers, read with caution.

The movie starts out by telling the audience that many parallel worlds exist to our own, and in this tale we get to enter one of those worlds … of course. It’s a world where human’s souls live outside of their body in the form of an animal companion called daemons. And I have to say, after watching this film I want one! In fact, at the official site you can take a quiz to see which animal fits you (I forget what mine was, but it was a fox-like animal). The animals are all done on computer as well, and all of them look amazing. Anyways.

Basically throughout the movie you follow the tale of Lyra a kinda of tom-boy who lives with her uncle. Lyra’s friends and some other kids of her world are going missing by some secret organization and when her uncle leaves for the north in search of dust she’s left by herself. Eventually she makes her way to traveling north and ends up coming into possession of a compass, that only she can use that tells her the truth of any question she asks. She also makes friends with many other people, such as a bear who use to be a prince. More stuff happens blah blah blah and it ends in a way that tells you that they are making the other books into a film as well :P (I won’t spoil the film for people!).

The best scene ever is the bear fight scene, wow. Seriously amazing, you could hate the entire film but watching that moment makes it all worth it. In short, this is an amazing way to end the year of 2007. If you are you into fantasy style movies then you will love this movie, and even if you are not maybe watching this film will make you like them. This is why I give the film 4/5 stars.
