This domain was registered when I first became “officially” an art student and was when I pursued my graphic design degree. Now, I am no longer a student. So, does that mean it’s time for a change?

Of course eventually I realized it’s not. I love this domain and even though I am no longer an art student I am still an artist (of sorts). I still love looking at art, taking photos, painting, creating graphics, etc. Now I am a college graduate trying to find a design job. Instead of posting artwork I am working on in school I can post artwork I am working on on my own time. I’m still trying to build a better portfolio, and there’s no reason for me to not to document it here :) Speaking of which, I actually have a new portfolio layout up :D!

It’s based off the last one with the same chibi I just changed them and changed the color of the header background and recoded the theme differently (using another theme as a base). This time there’s chibis of me featuring different things that I like :) Harry Potter, Gaming, The Hunger Games, and Art. I was getting tired of the last layout but wanted to use the chibi idea again and started working on this layout last night.

In other news, I’ve been out of work for about a month now and am trying to go back to work! I went on medical leave because over the last year I have been getting sick A LOT. Turns out there was a lot causing it, but I am on medicine now and have some more doctor appointments to go to. I am feeling a lot better now though. Doctor told me I had a UTI, a bug infection in my stomach, something up with my heart, low blood count, low iron count, and something is up with my eyes. Oi, I feel old now.

Anyways, I’ve been wanting to try to do another blog challenge (you know one of those 30 posts in 30 days) or a while now and decided I’d do it in April. The topic ideas are coming from Sarai, and her awesome topic list that she has. I’ll start it April 1st and if anyone else is interested let me know, I also made a topic on Snark about it :)

I also integrated widgets into Wordpress now, and found a way to still use a dynamic sidebar with them :) Anyways, the old layout was up for about a year I believe so it was about time for a new one! This one features me, but a chibi version of myself and the things I love (art, gaming, and my iPhone).  I’ll probably continue to edit the sidebar over the next few days until I am completely satisfied with it. Also, there’s some errors that I am slowly but surely trying to fix. Also going to start using tags instead of just categories.

Anyways, yesterday a friend from work got married and it was a beautiful wedding. It was also done in a lodge that’s near a river (which I have been to before) so naturally I took a few photos with my iPhone.

Currently working on a master copy painting in my painting class and creating a product in my print design class, so once I have more done with each expect lots of photos :)

I really like how they turned out and I am currently using the multi-color set :D! Below are all of the sets available, and I was thinking of doing more (maybe ones with speech bubbles, some animated) and maybe add a few more emoticons to the sets :)

My days consist of lots of “I should blog today” or “hey that vlog I was going to do 5 weeks ago yeah I should do that” … it doesn’t happen. I got Fable 3 this week and have been playing it on the xbox. School work = distracting (but in a good way I guess?) and of course lots and lots of World of Warcarft :D! But, I thought I’d blog before my next class to show what I have been making in my classes! Personal note ~ work is good, family is good, boyfriend and I broke up over a month ago, and I already met someone else. Woot. On to the artsy stuff!

I don’t have anything from my figure drawing class because all of my work stays in the classroom in my huge sketchbook so I’ll have photos of those at some point.

Graphic Design 2

This class is also about typography and one of our recent projects was creating a font! In the spirit of Halloween I made a font I call “A Bloody Mess”. We had to at least do the main alphabet and it’s an actual working font which is installed on my laptop :D I’ll slowly post the rest of the projects here too :)

Digital Photo Imaging

We use a film camera but we edit images in photoshop. Image below was 2 projects ago, we had to mess with shutter speed (either fast or slow) and I experimented with a slow shutter speed to make images look ghostly. Below are two of the images of me in a graveyard (don’t worry, I wasn’t dancing on the tombstones or anything!) Click each image for a larger view on my Deviant Art account.

My next project for this class is where we have to have about 10 prints, and for mine I am going to make a graphic novel/Sin City thing to it. A friend and her boyfriend are going to help me out and I am going to make it look like he’s killing her :D I’m excited for this one! I shall try to blog/post as the project goes along because it’s a month long process.

Welcome to Wonderland, where the tea is tasty and everyone is mad :) I went home at the beginning of May for about a week and half and while there I randomly had the idea to make an Alice inspired layout. After many days of messing in photoshop with the illustrations and many weeks coding I am finished! I may still tweak some of the colors here and there (I can’t seem to get the annoying blue border around the thumbnails in the sidebar to go away), but other than I am very pleased with it :) I loved my last layout but it’s Summer time and I want something bright and happy. And I love Alice in Wonderland so it fits (I still need to see the new one by Tim Burton!).

Also notice the spiffy font at the top, an Alice font. I love plugins. Sadly, I have another idea for another layout too … but at the rate it takes me to make and code them it won’t be up for awhile ;) Let me know what you think about the layout and any errors you may see. Also let me know if you saw the new Alice in Wonderland movie, it comes out on DVD Tuesday so I may pick up a copy of it :)

I was apparently highly motivated :P Anyways, new layout! I made the owl originally sometime last year and came across the file and ended up making a night scene with some other animals. Oh top of a new layout I edited a few pages here and there and also added a new section, Artwork. Having my class projects on flickr worked but I wanted it to be more integrated into the site itself, so I was able to accomplish that using Nextgen Gallery :). I am up-to-date on all class work thus far except for a few classes (have to locate the photos I took of them), even with my classes this semester.

In other news, I haven’t been up to much. I recently got promoted at work and I am not a permanent member of the electronics team (even though I’ve been working it for over a year haha), which also means a raise so yay for that. Nothing else is really going on (I am so boring), any thoughts/suggestions on the gallery itself or the layout would be appreciated :)
