Happy Birthday to Me!

It’s weird to think I am 26 now, especially considering people ask if I am 18/19 and I get cared for R rated movies :P Birthday was on the 17th (it’s now about 15 ’til 2am so technically it’s the 18th) and I had a GREAT birthday.

Woke up this morning at 5:30am for work (not so fabulous), but overall work was a great day :) Coworkers kept wishing me a happy birthday and we even had pizza for lunch at work. After work I bought a few things and headed to Michael’s arts and crafts store to pick up some stuff to make a World of Warcraft inspired bag. Jose and I waited around the apartment before going out for dinner. He ordered me something and it finally came after 6:30pm. I was shocked when he told me to close my eyes and he presented me with a dozen red roses :D

Initially I thought of The Hunger Games and President Snow, haha (which by the way, I finished reading the final book today SO GOOD!) but they were a nice surprise. After the pretty roses came we left to go eat at Genghis Grill, which neither of us have ever been at. Basically you get a bowl and go to a buffet style area and pick what meats and vegetables you want (all raw) which you can also add a wide array of seasoning too. Then you pick a sauce for your dish as well as a starch and they cook it for you and bring it to  your table when it’s finished. It was SO good and we plan on eating there again really soon.

I had chicken, steak, carrots, broccoli, and white rice in a honey soy sauce. Was very good, also had cheesecake for dessert :) Also got to raid in World of Warcraft tonight with guildies for the first time which was a lot of fun (even won some nice pieces!).

Overall I had an amazing birthday. Next weekend I am going home to visit family and to celebrate my birthday again :) Been getting lovely cards from family members also wishing me a happy birthday! This was also my first birthday with my iPhone so I was shocked with how many facebook comments, tweets, and forum birthday wishes I was receiving :) Thanks again everyone!

End of a Semester & Final Projects!

Spring semester has been over for me since last Friday :D! This week was final weeks but thankfully I did not have any. I took Intro Web Design and Graphic Design 3, both classes I really enjoyed! I definitely wished I blogged more over the course of the semester with my class work, but ah well :P Since we had final projects for both I thought I’d go ahead and post both of them.

For Intro to Web Design we had to design a website, on whatever we wanted but had specific things we had to add to it. I chose to make a fake cupcake bakery website, which was named The Cupcakery (thanks to Jordan for the name idea!).

For Graphic Design 3 we learned about sound, video, and animation. For my final project I created a fake trailer for a fake film with the help of some friends. The basic idea is about a man who is murdering women throughout the city, before they die they receive photographs in the mail depicting their death. There’s a lot more to the story than that but unfortunately I was unable to shoot it all. I hope to finish it up and maybe turn it into a short film. The video was posted on my Facebook account.

This summer I’ll be spending it relaxing and working with no plans of taking a summer class. My sister is expecting her second child in May so I really want to be able to visit as much as possible. Over the next few weeks I’ll add the classwork from this semester and my last semester :D! I hope everyone had a school semester!

Is It Over Yet?

A new semester started about 2 weeks ago which is why I am a bum and have yet to blog. That and I get easily distracted by other shiny things, such as an AWESOME gaming desktop my boyfriend built me (will add a photo of it and specs to the gaming section under owner, when I get a chance).I am excited about this semester though, even though I am taking more classes then I have in the past. My current schedule:

Monday/Wednesday

  • Figure Drawing 1 meets 9:05-11:35, I love my teacher! She’s a grad student and very nice and helpful. She’s always so positive. And drawing naked people isn’t so awkward like I thought it would be :P

Tuesday/Thursday

  • Digital & Photo Imaging meets 9:05-11:35, another grad student as a teacher. We use a 35MM camera to take photos then get the negatives done at Walgreens or CVS or somewhere and scan each negative into the computer (which takes forever! About 2 hours for just one roll :().
  • Graphic Design 2 meets 12:50-3:20, love my teacher. This class focuses on using illustrator and working with type both of which I am interested in learning about.
  • On Thursday I have one extra class, Success Strategies which meets 4-5:20 which is nice because it’s only 1 credit and only meets once a week!

On top of that I also work (weekends but hopefully mid shifts from about 2-8 on Monday and Wednesday) so I am busy, busy, busy. I also apply for BFA in graphic design this semester in about 2 months so I am nervous about that, if I don’t get in I can just my BA in Studio Art which is fine :) I keep meaning to vlog again but since classes started and I’ve been playing WoW a lot more than I was I have putting it off – a lot.
