Woke up this morning at 5:30am for work (not so fabulous), but overall work was a great day Coworkers kept wishing me a happy birthday and we even had pizza for lunch at work. After work I bought a few things and headed to Michael’s arts and crafts store to pick up some stuff to make a World of Warcraft inspired bag. Jose and I waited around the apartment before going out for dinner. He ordered me something and it finally came after 6:30pm. I was shocked when he told me to close my eyes and he presented me with a dozen red roses

Initially I thought of The Hunger Games and President Snow, haha (which by the way, I finished reading the final book today SO GOOD!) but they were a nice surprise. After the pretty roses came we left to go eat at Genghis Grill, which neither of us have ever been at. Basically you get a bowl and go to a buffet style area and pick what meats and vegetables you want (all raw) which you can also add a wide array of seasoning too. Then you pick a sauce for your dish as well as a starch and they cook it for you and bring it to  your table when it’s finished. It was SO good and we plan on eating there again really soon.

I had chicken, steak, carrots, broccoli, and white rice in a honey soy sauce. Was very good, also had cheesecake for dessert Also got to raid in World of Warcraft tonight with guildies for the first time which was a lot of fun (even won some nice pieces!).

Overall I had an amazing birthday. Next weekend I am going home to visit family and to celebrate my birthday again Been getting lovely cards from family members also wishing me a happy birthday! This was also my first birthday with my iPhone so I was shocked with how many facebook comments, tweets, and forum birthday wishes I was receiving Thanks again everyone!

For Intro to Web Design we had to design a website, on whatever we wanted but had specific things we had to add to it. I chose to make a fake cupcake bakery website, which was named The Cupcakery (thanks to Jordan for the name idea!).

For Graphic Design 3 we learned about sound, video, and animation. For my final project I created a fake trailer for a fake film with the help of some friends. The basic idea is about a man who is murdering women throughout the city, before they die they receive photographs in the mail depicting their death. There’s a lot more to the story than that but unfortunately I was unable to shoot it all. I hope to finish it up and maybe turn it into a short film. The video was posted on my Facebook account.

This summer I’ll be spending it relaxing and working with no plans of taking a summer class. My sister is expecting her second child in May so I really want to be able to visit as much as possible. Over the next few weeks I’ll add the classwork from this semester and my last semester :D! I hope everyone had a school semester!

Monday/Wednesday

• Figure Drawing 1 meets 9:05-11:35, I love my teacher! She’s a grad student and very nice and helpful. She’s always so positive. And drawing naked people isn’t so awkward like I thought it would be

Tuesday/Thursday

• Digital & Photo Imaging meets 9:05-11:35, another grad student as a teacher. We use a 35MM camera to take photos then get the negatives done at Walgreens or CVS or somewhere and scan each negative into the computer (which takes forever! About 2 hours for just one roll :().
• Graphic Design 2 meets 12:50-3:20, love my teacher. This class focuses on using illustrator and working with type both of which I am interested in learning about.
• On Thursday I have one extra class, Success Strategies which meets 4-5:20 which is nice because it’s only 1 credit and only meets once a week!

On top of that I also work (weekends but hopefully mid shifts from about 2-8 on Monday and Wednesday) so I am busy, busy, busy. I also apply for BFA in graphic design this semester in about 2 months so I am nervous about that, if I don’t get in I can just my BA in Studio Art which is fine I keep meaning to vlog again but since classes started and I’ve been playing WoW a lot more than I was I have putting it off – a lot. If you’re in school what are you taking? If your not, what are you dream classes you wish you could take?

The weather also decided to knock out the power later on, but this time I was actually on the sales floor. I left the flashlight I had in the cart (I was zoning at the time) and was in another section to grab something and of course the power went out. I just stood there, as still as possible, waiting for it to come back on. Once it did I sprinted to my cart and grabbed the flash light and carried it with me for about an hour until the storm passed ‘Cos you know, the power doesn’t go out when you have a flash light near you it’s only when you don’t.

Now the power going off at work I don’t mind, hey I’m getting paid to fiddle with a flash light and run around in the dark until the back up generators kick on. Works for me! But when I’m at home I get soooo bored. Especially if it’s pitch black and I have to use my flashlight like it’s part of me. What do you do when you’re home and the power goes out? I usually watch a movie on my portable dvd player or laptop if they have enough power in them, if not I draw, clean, organize random things, or read. Tomorrow I am seeing Toy Story 3, expect a review of it tomorrow

At one point we were looking through a door with a glass window in it and one of the vet techs told us we could go in to watch, oh boy. Turns out one of the vet techs was neutering a kitty. She was explaining everything as she did and we both had a shocked look on our face since we didn’t know that was what we’d be walking in to It was interesting to see though to say the least haha.

After being there for about 2 hours we went to the local park to grill yummy burgers and hot dogs and just relax and have fun. Played some frisbee, attempted to play badminton, and some weird game involving a ball and a plastic funnel looking throwing thing … I forget the name of it. Overall I had a nice day Oh how I wish I could have adopted all of those pets there! They said 11,000+ come in the shelter a year and only 9,000 or so find a home. So sad.

Tomorrow from 9-11 I am volunteering (through my job) at a local animal shelter, I’m excited! Usually I don’t get a chance to participate in these events and volunteer things through work due to school or something else but since I am on summer break I get to go Riding over with a friend from work, we’re going to bathe the animals, clean up, walk them, etc etc. Afterwards we’re having a nice picnic at a local park Om nom nom, can’t wait for that either

I imagine I’ll leave wanting to buy every animal there
